Back to School 2009-10

Well the kids have started school. It is hard to believe it's here. Lindsey is in the 11th grade this year and Chris is in the 6th. This is a big year for both of them. I am going to keep this one short, I just wanted to share with you all their first day of school pictures. Enjoy. And for those of you with kids in school good luck and hope they have a great school year.

And We're Off.......

Summer is over and we're off to school, TOMORROW to be exact! Sad for the kids, but happy times for the parents! It has been a busy summer for the Carters. Which I am sure you all have noticed since I haven't posted anything in a while. Both Lnz and Chris started practice the first of August, so it has been busy. Chris has 6 day practices and Lnz has been going to 4 or 3 day practices. This coming up Friday Lnz will have her first football game half time performance. I am excited for her. It's an out of town game, but I am still going to see her first game. She has been doing really good. Hard to believe she is growing up and Chris too. They have changed so much this summer. Both of their birthdays are coming up. Chris will be 12 and Lnz 16!! YEP, 16! DRIVING - SCARY! She has been doing good on her driving, just dread the increase in the insurance. Teenage drivers - gotta love them!

Here is a short recap of the summer. June Roger left to work in Louisiana on June 1st. Lnz went to dance basic camp the second week. The third week Lnz went to Kingwood to help at her aunt Sherri's church's VBS and Chris went to G's and Pop's. On June 26th Seth and Courtney had their second child. A boy - Emmett.

July Lnz and Chris went to G's and Pop's for the first week. Chris had football camp the third week and Justin Gonzales (Lnz and Chris' cousin) came down from Winnsboro, LA to visit us.

The last week in July Lnz went to her second drill camp for the week in Kerrville, TX. Then on June 29th Roger's dog (Sofie) had her puppies.

August Lnz started her drill practice the first week and is still having it 3 to 4 times a week. Chris got to pick up his football equipment on the 15th and started his practice on the 17th and having 6 day practices. We are not sure what position he will be playing, once I find out I will let you all know. My aunt Mary had her 50th birthday party on the 21st! Happy Birthday MJ! Then school starts on the 24th!

WOW what a summer! It sure went by fast. Now that school starts, it make Christmas come faster. Hope everyone had a great summer and didn't get too hot. For those of you going back to school, I hope you have a great school year!

Gotta Love Spring Time

I love the Spring time! The flowers are starting to bloom and everything is so green. Roger and I have been to Lowes almost every weekend to buy something for the flower beds or yard. It is fun! Spending lots of money, but in the end the yard looks so pretty. Roger says that we have piad the Lowes electric bill for the month.

Meyer Family Reunion

The first weekend in May, Roger, the kids and I headed to Louisiana to attend the yearly Meyer family reunion. Meyer is Roger's mother's maiden name. The reunion is held at first cousin Becky's house. Everyone is so nice and they make you feel so welcome. Family reunions are kind of funny, there is always a story about someone and in one year's time ALOT can happen. The one thing I enjoy about the reunion is all the good food. Nothing like good home country cooking. We stayed with Shelley and Mike for the weekend and again we had a good time. I have attached some photos of the family generations.

Roger and I looked at some land that is for sale Mike and Shelley found. We met the guy and went to check out the land. I fell in love with it! I think Roger did too. We made an offer so only time will tell. There is really no rush for the land, but would be nice to go ahead and get it and have it paid off before we do finally decide to move. Life in Louisiana is so much different than Baytown, Texas. It is so laid back, everyone pretty much knows everyone, people are MUCH nicer and all in all it is just a really quite and nice place to be. Now I know why Shelley went back home a long time ago.

I have attached a photo of Mrs. Carter. I thought this was a good picture!

Chris the Football Player for BHS

On this past weekend's rainy Saturday Chris, Lnz and I headed up to Eagle Point's recreation building to get Chris signed up for Barbers Hill TIFI Football. We stood in line for two hours to get him signed up. Chris will be playing on the Senior's team. Isn't that funny, Lnz is a Sophomore and Chris is on the Senior team. I thought it was funny! Anyway practice will start this summer, but his games won't start until September 5th. We do not know what position he will play yet, when I find out I will let you know. I have posted his schedule (which I know is hard to read, but I can email it to you if you want) so hopefully you all can come and see him play. We are turning into BH parents. Lnz dancing in the Friday night games and then Chris will play football on Saturday mornings. Busy weekends are to come! I am proud of Chris for wanting to play football. GO CHRIS GO!

Lindsey aka Eaglette

We have some good news!! Lindsey has been trying out all week for drill team or as they are called the Eaglettes. She worked so hard and came home every night tired. Well tonight Thursday) was the try outs in front of the judges. She was the first group that went and then had to wait until all the groups danced. That makes for a long evening. I picked her up at 7:50pm and then we had to wait two hours and then go back to the school to see if her number was on the list. Well at 9:50pm Lnz and I headed back to the school. We got into the parking lot and parked up front. There were a couple of girls checking out the list. Lnz got out of the car and I asked if she wanted me to go and she said no. I understood. I was praying......she got to the door where the numbers were posted. She started talking to her friends and I was about to pee in my pants waiting. Then she came towards the car and gave me a big smile, then I knew she made it. She got in the car we both had tears in our eyes and she told me she made the team! YEA!! CONGRATS LNZ!! I am so happy for her. You all will have to come to a game and see her dance.

Easter Weekend

The Carters left for Louisiana for Easter weekend! We pulled out on Thursday around 4pm. It is about a 6 hour drive. We stop alot to get snacks or make pit stops. We got to Shelley's around 9:45pm. We stayed up for a while and talked and headed to bed. Little did I know what the next day was going to bring. Shelley and Mike were already up when I got up. We had some coffee and talked. Then Roger and the kids got moving and we all headed outside. Well to my surprise Shelley and Mike have got them a real farm thing working. I can't even tell you how many of anything they got, but bunches! They have turkeys, chickens, ducks, different kinds of birds or chicks, peacocks, cows, horses, bunny, and dogs. I am sure I have missed something, but you get the idea. I will post some photos. The kids loved it! They roamed around and played, which they had a lot of area to do that.

On Friday we all went over to Roger's cousin's Jimmy and Sharlotte Cain's lake house. It was very nice! I see why they like it so much. Very peaceful and quite. Roger and I were also excited about seeing little Emma. Emma was a puppy from our second litter. She has turned in to quite a little lady and pretty too. I am glad she went to a good home. Heck I am kind of jealous she gets to go to the lake all the time. :)

We did go by and visit Roger's mom, which she is doing good. Not sure if she remembers who we really are, but she looks good and is still getting around pretty good. On Saturday the kids and I went and got us a new addition to the Carter household. We got some bunnies, EASTER BUNNIES! Chris picked out his first, then Lindsey and of course momma had to get one! Not sure if we got males or females. Only time will tell. :) The kids were excited! I have to admit I was too. Saturday night we went out to dinner at a local food joint called Bobby's. According to my husband it used to be Jeanette's Drive In. Which was a local hang out for all the high schoolers. I had the catfish which was very good especially the hush puppies. Roger had the roast beef po-boy.

Sunday we got up and helped Mike with the dog kennel, well Roger did, I was supervising. They have four really big German Shepard's and they need a really big dog pin. They are building this so when Mike and Shelley want to go out of town the dogs can be pinned up and have a place to stay. So that mean Mike and Shelley can come and see us now! Sunday afternoon the weather was starting to look bad. And did it get bad! The wind picked up, the rain came in and the thunder and lightning was non stop. So it was decided that it was best to head back on Monday!

Side note thanks to Shelly and Mike, my husband is now in the egg and chicken business. Saturday night Roger got on line and ordered an incubator to hatch eggs. So Shelley sent us a dozen of misc. chicken eggs home. Now Roger has his work cut out for himself. I guess you can say Easter weekend at Mike and Shelley's was City Slickers meet the Farmer Browns. BUT it was the nicest weekend we have had in a long time. It was all in all a very fun and relaxing weekend. It was just nice to get to know Mike and Shelley better. I want to thank Mike and Shelley for a wonderful and educational weekend. Can't wait to get back!
